Dress Code in Schools

For thinking skills we wrote an essay on education, we have to choose on some questions and I chose dress code.

Anyone going to school now a days know that there is a dress code in the school. Even Though we can think this dress code is equal for most schools, we can find that economic level of the school may define the appearence of the students. It is very tidy to see all the students wearing the same clothes, but also quite opressive. When a big group of people wear the same clothes there are no difference between them, and this take the students out of reality because there will be always be a difference between you and the other person.

The advantages of a strict dress code are many, such as deleting difference so nobody can feel different in a group. To add a point a strict dress code prepares you for a business life where you will always have to wear a suit or formal clothes. However the most important fact of a dress code is to make people feel in a comfortable situation; sports, an important exam, a presentation, a job requirement.

On the other hand there are some disadvantages for dress code. Many times following a dress code is expensive, but also oppressive because you need money to buy it, and if you don’t have that money you will be out of the group. The clothes is a way of dividing society, we can appreciate the difference between public and private schools just by seen how they are dressed and this is very ugly because differences in society aren’t good in any way.

As a conclusion we can see that dress code is a defining fact in society, as people see you is how they treat you and this is a fact, at least for the first time of knowing a person. Dress code can be favorable sometimes but in general it’s oppressive and separates the society.

Capital Punishment

When a crime is commited there are many ways of making the criminal understand that what they did was wrong. In this essay im going to explain why capital punishment is probably the best way to take criminals out of the streets and let people live in peace. Even taking into account that justice many times get wrongful convictions.

Capital punishment is the best way to take criminals out of the streets, because the person that raped or killed (concerning murder self def'ence should be excluded) will never be a civilised person again, is just a one way road. Why so harsh? Every day many people is killed for stupid reasons or eventhought without one, and the murder who took away that life is the worst part of society and this kind of people are going to take our cities, our world to crazyness. This situation is shown in the movie "Dead man walking" where two girls where murdered and the family want the justice to kill him because they think it was just the correct judgement.

The justice system many times make mistakes and eventhought they do not have enough proofs against one person this one is sentenced and this is the only reason that capital punishment shouldn't be approved. This problem would be solved by passing through many stages before sentencing a person to death.

As a conclusion we can see that maybe we are going to approve capital punishment when we take it personally. At least in Argentina the justice system fails everyday and convicted people murder or rape again. This seems to be the only way out of this pandemic problem.

Wrongful Convictions

The police 30 years ago take into account the eyewitness proof  as a very important one, this was so important that some people go to jail because an eyewitness get confused and though it was the correct person. This is the case of Rodney Lee Lincoln who stills in prison.

Critique me

In thinking skills we study Critical Thinking, were you divide an argument in to reasons and a conclusion (this is used to persuade someone of something) we can support any argument if we have enough evidence, but also credibility have a very important role in the moment of supporting an argument.
To support an argument you need to think deeply of what kind of source you may use to support the conclusion. For example you have neutrality in which the source doesn't have two points of view or either manipulate the evidence. We have also another type of sources; expertise ( we suppose is written by someone who knows about it and we have to believe it) Also the bias (only one point of view is taked as important, but not presenting the other point with the same importance reduces credibility)
Now a days you have many sources to take information from, but are all of them trust-worthy? Here takes place the Reputation (you will be more believable depending on who you are) For example teacher has an oustanding grading at college and she gained the Image of being a good teacher, so we may think she is a good source. Despite all this about reputation the most believable sources are the ones that have eyewitness (someone's see it so he/she knows it's accurate information) But this fails if the story is not telled by the eyewitness itself because some details can be lost or changed.
The Corroboration is used by connecting all this ideas (evidence that prove that the fact is truth) But this do not always works because the evidence can connect but one of them can be false, this is called a correlative source.
After analysing all the points mentioned above is necessary to know that in order to select the correct evidence we need to see the context, if there are witnesses and also the Reputation.
